How to Run a Wound Care Software Demo That Actually Tests the Product

Vendor demos are choreographed. Chronic wound visits are not. Here's how to run a demo that surfaces what a wound care platform actually does under clinic conditions.

Before the demo

1. Pick two real cases. One straightforward venous ulcer, one messy diabetic foot ulcer with tunneling. Have the charts ready.
2. Pre-write your pass/fail bar. Note completion time, measurement variance, code accuracy, and how many clicks it takes to finish.
3. Confirm the demo environment mirrors production — not a scrubbed sandbox.

During the demo

1. Capture the wound yourself. Don't let the vendor drive. If it requires a calibration sticker, note it. Compare against markerless point-and-capture imaging.
2. Re-measure the same wound twice, ten minutes apart. Consistency between captures is the single best predictor of trajectory reliability.
3. Dictate a messy note. Interrupt yourself. Change the plan mid-sentence. See how the AI scribe handles it.
4. Ask for the finished note in under five minutes. If a human has to clean it up, that's your real workflow.
5. Request the generated codes. Cross-check ICD-10 and CPT against your own coder's read.

After the demo

1. Score against your bar, not the vendor's slides.
2. Ask for a zero-risk single-visit pilot — a real visit beats any demo.

A good platform gets stronger the messier the case. That's the only test that matters.
