Best Wound Care Software- A Buyer's Checklist

buyersguide

Ten questions to ask before signing any wound care software contract — from imaging consistency to hidden per-seat fees.

Before you sign anything for wound care software, ask what it costs you and where it falls short — not just what it does. Here's a ten-question checklist to score any platform on your next visit.

The 10-question buyer's checklist

  1. Purpose-built or bolted on? Is the documentation truly built for wound care, or a generic EMR with wound fields added later?
  2. Consistent measurement? Does every clinician measure the same way with markerless imaging — no calibration sticker required?
  3. Transcription or completion? Does it just transcribe, or finish the work with six agents covering imaging, charting, coding, trajectory, and education?
  4. Decision support? Does it flag whether a wound is healing, stalling, or worsening?
  5. Pre-signature checks? Do you learn about a missing field before you sign, or after a denial letter arrives?
  6. One record across settings? Does a single record follow the patient across clinic, bedside, and home visits?
  7. EMR integration? Does it connect with Epic, Cerner, and Athena — or become its own isolated island?
  8. Between-visit healing? Is there a dedicated education agent guiding the patient at home?
  9. True cost? The one most hide: is the EMR free with unlimited seats and no per-seat fee?
  10. Zero-risk trial? Can you actually test it now with no setup fee and no long migration?

Score it yourself

Most platforms win on one or two of these — rarely all ten in a single platform without punishing you for using it fully. Run the checklist on your next visit and see how WoundScribe checks every box.
