You don't need a committee to evaluate an AI scribe. You need one visit, one clinician, and a repeatable protocol. Here's how to run a clean side-by-side test in under a day.
Before the visit
- Pick the encounter type you want to stress-test — a debridement follow-up, a new DFU consult, or an NPWT check.
- Sign up for the AI scribe for wound care on any device with a camera and microphone.
- Leave your production EMR open in a second tab. You will chart in both.
During the visit
- Start ambient capture as you walk in the room. Speak normally.
- Use point-and-capture wound imaging for each wound — one photo per site, no ruler.
- Finish the visit as you normally would in your EMR.
After the visit
- Open the generated note, imaging measurements, and suggested codes.
- Compare against what you charted manually. Track three things: time to sign, coding specificity, and whether coverage criteria are documented.
- Decide whether to run it again tomorrow.
The goal isn't to switch systems. It's to see whether five minutes of ambient capture produces a signable note. One visit is enough data to know.
