How to Add Orders and Rx to a Wound Care Encounter

Orders and Rx belong at the front of the encounter, not the end. Placing them before you click Generate Notes lets the AI weave them into the SOAP and procedures notes, and it lets the validator confirm every order carries an ICD-10 link.

Step 1: Open the Orders and Rx tab

From the Encounter Details page, select the Orders and Rx tab. You'll see six order categories: labs, imaging, referrals, procedures, DME, and e-prescriptions.

Step 2: Add each order with an ICD-10 link

Select the order type, pick the item, and attach at least one active diagnosis. Payers require the diagnosis-to-order link; the AI-powered EMR for wound care blocks generation until every order has one.

Step 3: Confirm e-prescriptions and DME

For Rx, verify strength, sig, quantity, and refills. For DME (offloading boots, compression, dressings), attach the covering diagnosis and quantity for the billing cycle.

Step 4: Run pre-flight and Generate Notes

The pre-flight dialog flags any order missing a diagnosis or a required field. Fix or override, then generate. The planner agent incorporates each order into the plan section automatically.

Step 5: Accept recommended orders

After generation, the assessment may recommend additional orders (a wound culture, an A1c, a vascular referral). Accept, edit, or dismiss from the same tab, then sign.
